There are three driving principles behind the philosophy of Greystone Wines Obsession with Quality Through meticulous attention to every aspect of the grape growing and wine making process we aim to produce wines of the highest quality which fully reflect the unique aspects and terroir of our vineyards and people. Reflecting the Uniqueness of Where the Grapes are Grown While there is no direct English translation for the French ‘terroir’ it refers to the combined effect of local soils, climate, aspect, vineyard and winery practices to allow a wine to possess that unique quality which makes it special. For this reason Greystone wines can only be made from grapes that we have planted and nurtured ourselves, directly under our own control on our own land. Our Intrinsic Connection with the Natural Landscape We realise we are the caretakers for land we need to derive an income from, but also feel we have a responsibility to increase its biodiversity and recolonise the landscape with native plantings. |
