
The shortest day may have come & gone but for all of us that are experienced in New Zealand winters we know the worst is yet to come. The month of July can be a cruel one. Short days, wicked frosts, icy southerlies. So it less than appropriate then that one of the most important jobs in the vineyard is going on- winter pruning. Every single vine needs to be cut back & tidied up by hand & that’s a lot of vines.
Things can serious out there in the vineyard & on a cold day there’s not a lot to laugh about. Therefore it seems more than appropriate we publish something to get the blood pumping, the heart racing & the smiles widening (even if that does hurt your teeth- ouch).
