We're big in Japan!

Woo hoo!

Our Greystone 2009 Chardonnay has won GOLD & the New Zealand Wine of the Show at the Japan Wine Challenge.

It's most significant wine competition in Japan, held for the 14th time in Tokyo. A total of 1,249 wines were entered and 44 were awarded gold medals (3.5% of entries).

This is what Dom thinks “It’s awesome that the top New Zealand wine of the show is a Waipara Valley Chardonnay. Locally it’s a variety that is experiencing a resurgence in interest and is being treated with great respect. Our Greystone Chardonnay comes from two blocks on our vineyard, and we always knew this was a good wine. We reckon this variety will continue to increase in seriousness for us as our vines mature on the clay & limestone soils”.

The international panel of judges was chaired by the debonair Stephen Spurrier.

Greystone won GOLD at this international competition last year for our 2008 Pinot Noir.

Love that we're "big in Japan"!
