Greystone Sea Star Riesling 2011

Greystone

This dry Riesling (4g/l Residual Sugar) is light lemon in colour with a bouquet of fresh jasmine and lavender florals and lemon and green apple fruit.

The palate is direct and long full of pink grapefruit, lemon and lime with a texture characterized by structural phenolics and a creamy undertone adding weight to the mouth. A fresh and refreshing Riesling perfect served chilled.

Viticulturist's Notes

A section of spur-pruned 198 clone from Block 4 at Greystone Vineyard. Block four has dense soils with dominant clay. Shoot thinning and careful bunch selection at harvest time has given us only the cleanest and ripest fruit. Density 2500 vines/Ha on VSP two-cane trellis.

Winemaker's Notes

Our Riesling was whole bunch pressed and settled cold before a cool fermentation, entirely in stainless steel tank. We used a neutral yeast strain, allowing the true flavours from the juice to reveal themselves in the new wine. The young wine was lees stirred before settling in preparation for bottling in September.
