2009 Vintage

Greystone Rose 2009

Greystone

Wonderfully lifted nose– hints of cut hay and late summer musk roses in full bloom. We picked our Pinot Noir for Rosé at optimum ripeness when bunches were fully ripe And showing wonderful berry fruit flavours. Warm natural fermentation and lees ageing creates palate weight and texture with flavours reminiscent of sun ripened nectarines and peaches. Lovely long spicy finish. The wine to be plonked on a long table under big trees on days when time is not important.

Viticulturist's Notes

Our Rose was taken from our North West facing Block 5 Pinot Noir in 2009. This block enjoys temperature fluctuations from day to night that are perfect for retaining fruit flavours with real depth. The fruit ripening was very even and consistent across our Pinot Noir resulting in great fruit richness and ripe berry flavours. Density 2500 vines/hectare on VSP two cane trellis.

Winemaker's Notes

We picked our Pinot Noir for Rose at optimum ripeness when bunches were fully ripe and showing wonderful berry fruit flavours. After a short period soaking on skins we transferred the juice to tank for fermentation. Warm natural fermentation temperatures and extended time on lees have led to a rich mouth – feel and subtle complexities throughout the wine. This wine is ready to be enjoyed immediately.
