Greystone Feather Star Riesling 2011

A light bright straw colour in the glass leads to an expressive and delicate nose including lime and florals.  this low alcohol Riesling offers layers of complexity ranging in flabours from light citrus fruits through to richer manuka honey - all with a touch of sweetness.  A long and poised palate is highlighted by minerality throughout.  A perfect aperitif wine or match with fragrant South East Asian dishes.

Viticulturist's Notes The fruit for our Feather Star Riesling comes from spur pruned vines on 'Block 4' of Greystone Vineyard.  This block is gently sloping and is on clay soils.  We manage these vines differently to other Riesling blocks to allow early picking at ripe flavours but low sugars.

Winemaker's Notes Hand selected bunches of the 198 clone of Riesling grown at Greystone Vineyard were very gently whole-bunched pressed before settling to clear juice for fermentation.  The young wine was racked off lees soon after ferment to retain a fresh and poised palate at 50 g/L residual sugar.  At 8.5% alcohol this wine is perfect lunchtime driking over summer.  Don't be fooled however, this wine will gain character with age.
