Meet Inès de Revel, joining the Greystone team for the vintage ahead!
Harvest is officially underway, and with it comes one of our favourite times of the year at Greystone. As the vineyard and winery come alive with the energy of vintage, we’re thrilled to welcome Inès de Revel to the team for the season ahead.
Inès joins us from Bordeaux, bringing with her an inspiring journey into winemaking, beginning her career as a perfumer before following her passion into the world of wine. This will be Inès’ first time in New Zealand, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her experience a North Canterbury vintage with us!

Q&A: Inès de Revel on her journey into Winemaking.
Q: Where are you originally from?
A: Bordeaux, France
Q: How did you get into the wine industry?
A: My journey into wine began through my mother’s family, the Thienponts of Bordeaux, whose estates include Vieux Château Certan and Le Pin, sparking a lifelong connection to winemaking and my father who is a wine teacher who specialised in wine composition.
Q: Is this your first vintage?
A: No, this will be my sixth vintage. I’m really excited that this is my first vintage in New Zealand!
Q: What regions have you previously worked in?
A: In France, I have worked in Bordeaux twice and once in Burgundy. I have also worked in Portugal and Italy.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this upcoming vintage?
A: This is my first time in New Zealand, and I’m excited to discover the area and local wineries, taste their wines, and meet the people who shape the wines of the region. I’m especially keen to learn more about white wine vinification this vintage at Greystone.
Q: What is your favourite task in the winery?
A: I love seeing – and touching – the pump over for red wine!
Q: What future aspirations do you have?
A: Continue to discover the world of wine while travelling.
